Unfortunately, people have a tendency to get carried away. This applies within the biofuel-space as well as everywhere else, and in both directions: On one side you have the people who are overly optimistic, guided more by hope and belief than by facts. On the other side you have the pessimists. These guys, most of the time using well-founded and fact-based arguments, make the case that algae biofuels will never be cost competitive, that they break the basic laws of thermodynamics, etc.

We believe that both sides must be listened to in order to make a sound judgement of the opportunities within this space. On the balance, we feel that the skeptics are somewhat better at bringing facts into the discussion, while the optimists often just refer to “technological development”.
Who is right, and who is wrong? Time will tell.
We believe, however, that it would be really useful to follow the skeptics closely, and to see how their arguments are met by the other side.
Here, we will collect links to sites with material and discussions, with a skeptical starting point. Please inform us if you have suggestions for links and articles to bring to the table!
